Goodwill Ambassador, Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka

Rakhil Fernando, the Managing Director of Daraz (an Alibaba Company, the pioneer of e-commerce in South Asia) was appointed as Goodwill Ambassador of Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka on 1st December 2020.

Prior to joining Daraz, Rakhil Fernando was the Director of Innovation at MetLife’s innovation arm in Asia, LumenLab, a position he had held since 2017. Before that, he spent many years in the Singapore startup ecosystem, where his last role was founder and CEO of Kashmi, a peer to peer payments and digital first banking Rakhil that serviced Singapore and Sri Lanka. Throughout his career, Fernando has also worked at Credit Suisse, Coutts & Co Bank, Batey Advertising in various roles.

Through his role as a Goodwill Ambassador, Mr. Fernando will continue his efforts in helping Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka to raise awareness about the need for affordable housing for all, and raise much needed funds and resources to support more low-income families in Sri Lanka break the cycle of poverty.

I am honoured to be taking up the role of Goodwill Ambassador of Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka, and thereby actively promoting their vision and mission of creating a better society. I am a firm believer that, when you give somebody a home, You give them a place to be anchored to.
